Hello there

Been a while since i posted, which must mean that nothing interesting has caught my eye.... until now..

I've just read on the "this is local" london website that there is going to be a new Nightclub opening in the high street, which will hold 600 capacity... According to the reports, there is a Facebook page, with 700 names on it and also there is an "official website" to which you can browse.

Now i've googled both of these things and i've got nowhere... can anyone shed any light on this... Also where is gods name is this amazing venue going to be.

Am thinking that am glad i don't live in Epping anymore....

Please see link for the article that i'm referring...

Many thanks

The only place I can think of is possibly  what  was previously the old Half Moon pub which then became Bar 195, then M F something.  It doesn't seem to have been open for a while so maybe.  It should be possible to check the planning applications if changes need to be made to the building.I really don't think Epping needs another Club but perhaps that is because I am old and boring. I'm not sure what's going on, but it has been suggested to me that this is all a hoax.  Watch this space...

Don't know if this is any sue but the details of the website says the site was registered on 12/02/2010 and the registrant is:

address: 15 place de la Nation
  zipcode: 75011
  city:  Paris
  country: France

I really hope this is a hoax - Epping has enough drunken yobbery and noise already.
Another Nightclub is definitely NOT what we need.  Embarrassed

I have to say I've seen an improvement in both the general atmosphere and littering/glass/kebab waste on the streets since the other club was closed. It seems to be much nicer without these places.

I can't quite understand their popularity if that's the right word, when you have London on your doorstep with the tube. Maybe I'm just a late 30's old fart now  Grin

I genuinely have no idea what this is about.  One can only assume it was an attempt to revamp Club One9Five under new owners should their license have been refused today.

As I states on my website - http://allaboutepping.blogspot.com/ - For those of you who don’t understand the depths of the Licensing Act 2003, if a new management team apply for a new license, any of the historic criminal activity or generic trouble associated with the old licensees has to be disregarded by the committee whilst considering the new application.

Residents, Councillors and Police had tried to state their case against a reopening, but the law is written in a way that is once again a hinderance to local people.

I don't make any secret of the fact I had concerns of the way the club has its license revoked in the first place.  I thought Essex Police entirely deserved the repremand it got from the licensing committee for not sharing information sooner, then producing a horrific catalogue of life-threatening incidents, however, I am a real stickler for fairness and I don't think this has been considered fairly by the processes currently in place.

 Angry

Once again, Epping Council deserves to hang it's head in shame, with the exception of Councillor Whitehouse.

Once again, Epping residents around Cottis Lane  will be forced to suffer the racket until 2.30 in the morning from Cottis Lane, and then listen to the noise of drunks weaving and shouting their way home from Club 195. And you can guarantee that they'll get the extension to 4.00 am, or whatever time they fancy.

How can the law be so oriented towards granting these owners everything they want and so supine when it comes to looking after the residents - it's beyond me.

Frankly it's disgusting - Epping is becoming Chav Central, and it's time to leave.

I actually think we need to clarify which "Epping Council" needs to hang their head in shame.  Epping Town Council submitted their objections to this licensing application, however, the proposals made by the Town Council's Planning Committee were disregarded by the District Council's Licensing Committee as they based their findings and facts around the previously held licensee, as you would, but the law states the licensing committee can't consider these matters.

I also think we should clarify that Epping Town Council has no statutory authority to have their opinion considered in license applications, unlike planning applications.  The Town Council had to submit their concerns as a commerical operator, as Epping's Market is a business and is within the licensing remit which must be taken into account.

Ben,

Thanks for the clarification.

So, in reality, there was absolutely nothing anyone could do, despite the knowledge that the "new" operators will in all likelihood behave exactly as the old ones, and the same problems will almost certainly come to pass..

Gives one a nice warm feeling about how well the law is set up to look after ordinary decent residents, doesn't it?

This is just one example of a vast number of other locally.  The most frustrating thing about being a local Councillor is the contrains placed upon what you can't do!

Look at the McCarthy and Stone development in Epping High Street.  For 3 years local people stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Town, District and County Council but the devloper continued to push this through and the Government Inspector approved the plans.  How is that fair?  How is that democratic?  How is that empowering or enagaging local people in key decisions?  Of course, the vast majority of residents don't understand the legislation attached to these matter and simply feel their Councillors never stand up for them.  It really is disheartening!
