I am going out with Mrs. Monkey in between her driving lessons and being quite new to the area we didn't know where to go. We ended up at the long road down the back of the industrial estate at the back of Harlow Tesco (parallel to Edinburgh Way I think). It was the closest to a deserted road we could find.

Although it was ok there, it took a while to get to it from Epping, and if there's anywhere in Epping like an industrial estate or airfield or anything (ok I haven't looked at a map of Epping yet!) then that would be better and mean we could go there more often for some practice sessions.

Anyone know where else we could go for some quiet driving practice?

Cheers,

Northern Monkey

Northern,
What day and time are you thinking of? There's a huge carpark behind the Co-op that might be of use, it's empty most evenings, also some of the roads around that part of Epping, Bakers Lane, Lower Swaines, Shaftesbury Road are pretty quiet during the evening.

Let me know what time you're taking her out and I'll make sure I'm off the road...  Cheesy

Hehe. Thanks for the tips.

Probly on a Sunday. Look out for a kangaroo powered car as I drive her to where we will practice. Look for smoother gear changes when she's driving  Grin

I might check out the indiustrial bit near Bower Hill as well - might be quiet on a Sunday as well.

Cheers

Re driving lessons - I'm fairly new to the area but will be looking for a driving instructor around the summer time for my daughter.  Any tried and tested recommendations?  Thanks.

Yes I need to know now cos Mrs Monkey's instructor back in SE London has handed in his notice and won't be doing it anymore. Shame cos he's a top bloke and has gotten her well on the way to success. Apparently it pays nothing like the 30k you see on the telly due to franchising fees.

If I had 5-10k spare I'd invest it in him going independant, honestly he's one of those blokes you know are going to do the job properly.

So, apart from calling BSM and taking pot luck, who would you recommend?

Entirely in a personal capacity, I would strong recommend a couple who have taught in this area for many years.  You can contact Davron School of Motoring on 01992-576755.
